Mary Ellen and I moved to Nashville from Georgia in November of 2003. There is so much music history here, more than much of the rest of the country really understands. American music originated in the South from the mixture of blacks and whites, poor and rich, uneducated and super-educated, and Nashville was a mixing bowl. It is a town that is famous for "Country Music," but the name "Music City" was given to Nashville because of the Fisk Jubilee Singers who go back over a hundred years. Throughout the century, musicians have come here from all over the South, bringing their rich heritage. No matter how commercial today's "Music Row" becomes, the music, spread out all over the city, will continue to pour forth with pure, raw Southern energy.
