MUSIC: I have lived in a world of classical and popular music since I was 2 years old. I studied with renowned lady conductor Antonia Brico when I was 3. Up until sixth grade, I heard music - operas and symphonies - in my head, sounding the music out by using various vocal sounds, but I wanted to learn to write my music down. This came in time.

WRITING: I started writing fiction in the fourth grade, with a set of numerious spiral-bound notebooks containing the adventures of a mythical creature that I had named Dr. Goofy. Throughout my life, I have always composed, performed and written, and I continue to do so today.

EDUCATION: I began thinking about music education about 1970, when I initiated decades-long studies of Gregorian chant, Renaissance sacred music and North Indian classical music. The more that I learned, the more I realized the real need for a new system of education in our schools and universities. This has resulted in the Musical Kaleidoscope Project that I formally introduced in 1997 with the website DoveSong.com.

My wife Mary Ellen Bickford and I have created our "Don Robertson Music" website for you to enjoy. I hope I can share both my musical and life experiences with you through music and words.
